Ninja – Anusha Shares
My name is Anusha Thakur. I am 19 years old. I was introduced to ‘WhenAt60 Solutions’ by one of my oldest friends. One of the first things that I noticed and got impressed by was the unique idea of the company. I had earlier heard of such services being provided in other countries but this was a first in India. In India, since the most of the population is in its twenties, very little attention is given to the elderly, and I feel this is a great step. Besides this, when I met the people here, I noticed how they were so passionate about helping the elderly and money was a secondary thing for them.
So, the friend who introduced me to the company is a Ninja here and what primarily got me interested was her description of her first session. When she told me about the level on which she connected with the lady, I instantly wanted to be a part of this organisation. Having lived with my grandparents since childhood I have always been sensitive about the elderly and since I recently lost my grandfather, this was a golden opportunity for me. Also, I have always been a little introverted, so any social situation is awkward for me but during my sessions, I have discovered how it is very easy to talk to an elderly person, even if you’re meeting him/her for the first time. Through the company, I have discovered the kind of satisfaction one feels when one helps someone. I have felt the joy of giving, even I its just my knowledge of technology. I have a greater respect for people who are above 60 years of age. I feel much more content and no matter how long a day is, if I have a session on the day, I feel happy and satisfied. I feel proud everytime I make one of the members smile. Through the company, I get the chance to break the monotony of life, an income, the chance to do something good, and some new grandparents.
I think its a great idea on the part of the company to offer part time jobs to college going people because it not only gives them a chance to experience working in an organisation but also makes them sensitive towards the elderly and that is very important because we constitute the majority of the population and it is our responsibility to look after them.
